Call for Editorial Board Members (EBMs) for the Journal of the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing (JNBASLH)
We are accepting applications for the roles of Editor and Associate Editor for a 3-year term beginning June 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2027.
Do you meet the following criteria?
- Editorial Experience: Relevant experience in editing, preferably in a similar field or domain, and a strong understanding of the publication's subject matter and audience.
- Subject Matter Knowledge (see JNBASLH aims/scope): Demonstrated expertise or interest in the publication's topic, and the ability to fact-check and ensure accuracy in content.
- Adaptability: Willingness and ability to adapt to different writing styles and tone, depending on the content and publication's guidelines.
- Editorial Ethics: Commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in journalism and publishing, including avoiding plagiarism and conflicts of interest.
- Collaborative: A willingness to collaborate with the editorial team, including providing constructive feedback and brainstorming ideas.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Sensitivity to diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to handle content that reflects different cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment: Dedication to the publication's mission, goals, and long-term success.

Editor
The Editor of JNBASLH is the lead editor and is ultimately responsible for the research content of the journal. Their primary responsibilities include:
- Directing the overall strategic direction of JNBASLH (in collaboration with the NBASLH Board of Directors)
- Directing the review and decisions of submitted manuscripts to ensure a timely flow of reviews.
- Serves as the ambassador and representation of the journal, commissioning content and fielding submission inquiries as appropriate.
- Delegates manuscripts to the associate editors who will lead the peer-review process for assigned manuscripts.
Associate Editor
The Associate Editor of JNBASLH supports the editor and shares responsibility for the research content of the journal. The primary responsibilities include:
- Leading the peer-review process for manuscripts as assigned by the editor; identifies qualified peer-reviewers with expertise related to assigned manuscripts.
- Making final decisions on the assigned manuscripts (editor may wish to review associate editor decisions)
- Contributing to the strategic direction of the journal.
