Clinician of the Year: Audiologist & Speech-Language Pathologist
This award includes a monetary prize that recognizes outstanding professional achievement of an NBASLH member who is a practicing speech-language pathologist or audiologist, whether in schools, medical setting, clinic, or private practice. The individual could be working full time or part time in the field. Individuals must be in good standing and not have any violations or sanctions with their respective state licensing board/agency or with the ASHA Board of Ethics. Individuals nominated must have 7 or more years professional experience as an audiologist or as a speech-language pathologist, and have demonstrated outstanding contribution in at least one of the following areas:
- Assessment and management of speech, language, and/or hearing disorders
- Professional contributions in the areas of speech, language, and/or hearing disorders
- Service to local, state, and/or national professional organizations
- Innovative program design or therapeutic methods for individuals with speech, language, and/or hearing disorders
Criteria for Selection:
- Current NBASLH Member at time of application review (January every year)
- Completed online application
- Total of 7 or more years professional experience
- Proof of “good standing” (without violations or sanctions) with their respective state licensing board/agency or with the ASHA Board of Ethics. Note: The clinician does not have to have ASHA Certification (CCC).
- 2 Letters of Reference:
- One reference letter must be from a current or former patient/student/client or their parents/guardians/caregivers.
Patient/Client/Student references should express how the clinician has impacted their (or their family member's) life, especially in relation to speech, language, and/or hearing.
- One reference letter must be from a current or former manager, supervisor, colleague and/or representative from a professional organization.
Supervisor/Colleague/Representative references should express specific details about how the nominated clinician has contributed to their workplace and/or community in at least one of the areas outlined above.
